Saturday 16th November AGM Presentation of Trophies
Saturday 12th October
Cumbria Ladies and Junior Team v Durham County Ladies today at Penrith faced the elements, the weather throwing everything at them… Hail, rain, sun and blustery wind. The match resulted in a well fought draw. Thank you to all who took part. Katie, Emily, Becca, Carys, Gill, Lynne, Niamh and Beth and to Durham’s County Captain Wendy and her team really well done some fantastic golf played in really difficult conditions. We hope to repeat the match away in Durham in the spring.
Thank you to Penrith Golf Club for hosting the match and Ricki and Nicola for looking after us on the day and to Robin and his team for the presenting the course in great condition all very much appreciated..
Friday 27th September
The County League Presentation night was held at Workington GC 27/9/24.
Thank you to the League Secretaries Irene, Linda and Judy for all their hard work over the last year and for delivering a fantastic evening.
Thank you to Workington GC for looking after everybody and serving us delicious food and their Lady Captain Kathleen for hosting the event and the lovely flowers.
Monday 16th September
The County Autumn Meeting was held at Workington Golf Club today Monday 16th September.
A lovely sunny day but with damp conditions to start.
The Trophy winners were a team from Kirkby Lonsdale, Barbara Bullock, Gillian Hartley and Dorothy Pelly very well done ladies.
2nd Place was made up of The County Captain Ruth Coleby, County President Linda Young and Past Captain Jenny Bland.
3rd place Jeanette Roe, Christine Clarke and Madeline Harrison from Workington. Twos Kate Hampshire, Kath Taylor and Gillian Jones.
Thank you to Workington Golf Club for hosting the County, to the green staff the course was in superb condition. Lady Captain Kathleen Gibson for starting us all,
Julia Lynn for the lovely flowers and the ‘raffle ladies’ which made £107.

Monday 12th August
The County Summer Meeting was held at Brampton Golf Club today. Div One players strokeplay and Div two Stableford (converted for best gross).
The overall best gross and winner of the Dorrie Pattinson Trophy was Lyn Dulson from Penrith GC with a fantastic 80 gross in very challenging conditions very well done.
The first net prize and winner of the Div One Cigarette Box was Jenny Bland from Carlisle GC and runner up on CPO was Lynn Cacket from Brampton GC both net 73.
Winner of Div two’s Cigarette Box with 39 Stableford points was Val Makinson from Ulverston GC on a CPO from Carol Nicholson from Kendal GC.
Thank you to Brampton GC for hosting the competition, the course was in superb condition thanks to the green staff for their hard work, the caterers for looking after us,
Lady Captain for the lovely flowers and Hilary for looking after the raffle.
Northern Counties Jamboree 6th - 7th August Barrow GC
The County 4BBB at Windermere 15th July.
Thank you to the golf club for looking after us so well, to the green staff the course was in brilliant condition, to the bar staff for the lovely food and drink. Thank you to Lady Captain Shelley for starting us on the first tee and the lovely flowers. Thank you to you all for supporting the event. Fantastic weather despite the forecast, wall to wall sunshine. A Windermere pair won the trophy Charlotte Casson and Marjorie Madge with 42 points. Runners up Rosie Waller and Val Woodcock Kendal, also 42 points. 3rd Pauline Sill and Rowena Lea also Kendal 40 points, 4th prize Helen Holmes and Lesley Davey Silecroft 38 points on a CPO.
There were five twos. Well done to all the winners.
Monday 8 July
The Cecil Leitch Five Club Competition was held at Barrow GC today in gorgeous weather - sunshine and very little wind.
Pat Varty from Penrith GC was the overall winner with a fantastic net score 69 followed by Joyce Whiteman, Kirkby Lonsdal GC net 70 and 3rd Julie White, Furness GC, net 73. Only one two Margaret Gunson from Maryport.
Thank you to Barrow GC for hosting The County Ladies and making the day very special. Lady Captain Pauline, Captain Ian, Joan, Carol, Eileen and Gill and all the lady members who helped. Thank you to Stewart and his catering staff and to the Greenstaff the course was in excellent condition.

1DTT Penrith GC 13 June
Twenty Teams took part today in the County Ladies One Day Team Trophy at Penrith Golf. The weather started in sunshine and turned windy and showery later in the day. Our lovely food was served all day by Fairways Bar and Catering, Ricki, Nicola and their team.
We were waited on by the Penrith Ladies and our superstar waitress ‘David’. Our grateful thanks to Penrith Golf Club and all their members for allowing us to use the course and Clubhouse all day. Thank you to Robin and the green staff who presented the course in fantastic condition and to our Lady Captain Bridget and her Committee who helped a make the day a resounding success.
The Gross Trophy winners I’m very proud to announce were my Home Club Penrith the first time they have won this Trophy very well done and congratulations. The Nett Team Trophy was Keswick GC. The individual Gross Trophy was Brenda Ewbank Appleby GC and the Nett Trophy Liz Mumberson Cockermouth GC. A hole in one on the ninth hole was Anne Carruthers of Whitehaven GC.
Congratulations to all the winners and thank you all for a lovely day.

Day 3
The Semi Finals today kicked off at Ulverston GC Becca v Abby and Katie V Carys. The matches were fantastic demonstrating amazing golf. What a privilege to watch these girls play. All played in the spirit of the game leading to an exciting and well fought final with Becca and Katie.
What a Final from both girls playing outstanding golf culminating in a victory for Katie who is in her last year representing Cumbria County Ladies as she is training to be a pro and will no longer be eligible. Katie has been part of the County since being a tiny junior and represented us at CMW each year. We will all miss her immensely but wish her every success in her new career. Huge congratulations Katie on your double win The Best Gross and Cumbria Ladies County Champion..
Also very well played Becca in the Final a star of the future.

Another fantastic day at Ulverston for The County’s Division two Championships and two rounds of the Championship Knockouts.
We were very lucky with the weather the lightning missed us and we had sunshine with a few showers.
Well Done to Brenda Spilsbury from Barrow GC for wining Div 2, The County Bronze Championships with a converted gross score.
Runner up Dorothy Pelly from Kirkby Lonsdale and third Gill Forrester from Appleby.
The Olive Coulthard Trophy with the three best Aggregate scores from the same Club was Penrith really well done to all the winners
Day 1 County Champioships Ulverston GC
A fantastic day for the Cumbria County Ladies Championships at Ulverston Golf Club. Our grateful thanks to the Committee and their members for allowing to hold our Championships over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The course was in fabulous condition thanks to Head Greenkeeper Mike Etchells and his team. We appreciate all your hard work.
Thank you to Lady Captain Elspeth and Ladies for all your help and lovely flowers and to Ewan and the catering staff for catering all day. Mr Captain Bryn for starting the ladies and Claire for the photographs. We very much appreciate all your help.
Well done to all the players some fantastic golf played. The finalists go through to the knockout match play rounds played over the next two days.

Mixed Open 3rd May
A good entry for today’s County Mixed 4BBB Open at Seascale Golf Club today.
After thick fog at the start of the competition it soon turned to a miserable wet day but that did not deter the hardy golfers.

Squad Training 21st April
A dry day for a change for the Training Session at Penrith Golf Hub. The County Ladies Squad were put through their paces with Andrew Pickering, working on short game pin challenge outside and wedge accuracy. Lee in the SAM put lab, perfecting putting techniques, posture and putter alignment. Russ delivering the importance of fitness, building stamina, hydration and increasing speed challenges.
The ladies challenge was five holes on the course with points scored for landing on the greens. The winner was Jo Ashworth, closely followed by Becca Wildey.
A great day with lots to take forward into their practice routines.

Foursomes Practice Monday 1st April
The weather didn’t deter the County Squad today practicing foursomes at Penrith Golf Club. There was fun and laughter despite being drowned.
The pairings swapped around after nine to give everyone the chance to get to know each others games. Really well done fantastic Team Spirit, great day and good laugh. Thanks to Val County Vice for keeping the supplies of goodies and thanks to Linda County President for the Easter Eggs.
Many thanks to Penrith Golf Club for the use of the course and to Ricki and Nicola once again for great food and looking after us all day.
Can’t wait for the next practice foursomes and our Friendly match against Northumberland at Brampton 7th April and 13th April against Carlisle’s men’s team.

Saturday 23rd April
The County Ladies with The County Vets against The County Senior Men at Penrith Golf Club.
Our first friendly match of the season in very challenging conditions. Singles matches played in pairs to get round in daylight.
A fantastic day enjoyed by all, brilliant atmosphere and a lot of banter in the groups. The men were victorious but the Ladies put up a very strong challenge.
A new format this year but may be continued in the future.
Very well done to all.
