Day Three NCMW Eaglescliffe GC
We set off this morning in cold blustery conditions, had one downpour to endure but then the sun came out! The team played with heart and determination and yet again the scores don’t reflect how close the matches were. Brenda's match went to the 16th and Abby took her opponent to the 18th where she sadly lost with a par when a birdie was needed. Again heartbreaking but fantastic golf.
Thanks to our wonderful team who gave their all. And thanks to the caddies, supporters and for the cards and messages of support.
And well done to Emily Smith for getting her County Colours!

Day Two NCMW Eaglescliffe GC
Well what a day. We started off in wet and windy weather which continued all day interspersed with sun and hailstorms. No kidding.
The scores don’t reflect how close the matches were with holes being lost by putts so close how did they not go in! Rebecca Davidson & Carys McDonough took their opponents to the 18th where the final putt was delayed by the first hailstorm only for it to lip out. Heartbreaking stuff.
The afternoon’s play was suspended due to a sudden and intense hailstorm that turned the greens white! Such a disruption is difficult but the team continued as the temperature fell. The last 2 matches went to the 18th. Exciting but more heartbreak.
Thanks to our team, our caddies and our supporters who battled through the day in such spirit.
Good luck tomorrow 🍀

Day One NCMW Eaglescliffe GC
Day 1 saw us playing Lancashire in the morning. After a wet start with close matches where holes were lost by putts only just missing, Abby Roper secured a half on the 18th. In better weather against Durham in the afternoon, Caitlin Whitehead & Brenda Ewbank both won their matches bringing 2 points home for the team.
Well played everyone and thanks to the “orange army” of supporters.

21 March Appleby GC
The annual pre-season match against the County Senior Men’s team took place today at warm and sunny Appleby Golf Club, with their course in good condition. The team who played today was Abby Roper & Brenda Ewbank, Becca Wildey & Carys McDonough, Hannah Rayson & Niamh Carruthers, Rosie Waller & Zoe Wilson, and Kathleen Bulman and Flossie Martindale. Five matches of 4BBB were played over the full 18 holes, despite the ladies winning three of the five matches, the scoring system resulted in the Senior Men’s team winning by six holes up to five holes up. A very enjoyable pre-season match resulted in a very high standard of play in all matches and everybody should be proud of their performance today.

8 March Penrith Golf Hub
In beautifully warm and sunny weather we held our 3rd training session at Penrith Golf Hub. Andrew and Jamie instructed the assembled golfers on how to assess pitching distances and select the right club and shot - all to help with the short game. Time was spent with Andrew on the range and Jamie gave advice on the course.

15 February Penrith Golf Hub
On a cold February morning we held our second CLCGA coaching session at Penrith Golf Hub. Emily Smith, Sharron Simpson, Zoe Wilson, Paula Barron and Niamh Carruthers were given golf tips by Andrew and fitness and strength exercises by Russell. A great way to focus minds and bodies for the season ahead!

31 January Penrith Golf Hub
We had our first County Team coaching and training session of the 2026 golfing season today.
Captain Jill Thompson and President Carole Story watched PGH Professionals Andrew Pickering and Lee Edwards teach Emily Smith, Rebecca Davidson, Carys McDonough, Sharron Simpson and Niamh Carruthers on techniques and alignment.
Due to an unforeseen power failure at the PGH both Andrew and Lee went back to old school coaching and training methods which the girls really enjoyed and they left with something positive to work on their game.
